Visa Policy

Visa policy includes mechanisms for protecting the interests of the state, protecting public order, and preventing irregular migrations and is an integral part of the external and security policy of both EU Member States and BiH.

The alignment of BiH's visa policy with EU standards is essential for security and migration management.

Steps

4.6.1.1. Alignment of visa policy with the list of EU countries for which a visa is required, (especially regarding countries that pose an irregular migration or security risk to the EU) - terminate at least one visa-free agreement with a country which is visa required for the EU (December 2025) Alignment with EU visa requirements for countries posing migration or security risks is a priority for the first phase of implementation.

Alignment of visa policy with the list of EU countries for which a visa is required, (especially regarding countries that pose an irregular migration or security risk to the EU) - terminate at least one visa-free agreement with a country which is visa required for the EU (December 2026) Continued alignment efforts in the second phase of implementation.

4.6.1.3. Alignment of visa policy with the list of EU countries for which a visa is required, (especially regarding countries that pose an irregular migration or security risk to the EU) - terminate at least one visa-free agreement with a country which is visa required for the EU (December 2027) Final phase of alignment to ensure full compliance with EU visa policy standards.
